Fraudulent Job Posting Policy

Home Fraudulent Job Posting Policy

Effective: January 1, 2026

1. Purpose

WE Data Tools (“WDT”) provides job board functionality that allows authorized job board operators (“Operators”) to publish publicly advertised job postings within their WDT instance.

This policy outlines how reports of fraudulent or misleading job postings are received and addressed on WDT-powered job boards.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Publicly advertised job postings published within a WDT-powered job board
  • Reports submitted through the “Report this Job” feature within the job board interface

Each WDT job board instance is managed by the Operator responsible for that site. WDT provides the technical infrastructure that enables job postings and reporting functionality.

3. What Constitutes a Fraudulent Job Posting

For the purposes of this policy, a fraudulent or misleading job posting may include, but is not limited to:

  • Job postings that misrepresent the employer, position, or compensation
  • Postings that request payment, financial information, or personal banking details from applicants
  • Impersonation of legitimate organizations
  • Scam-related recruitment activity
  • Postings created for data harvesting or phishing purposes
  • Postings that materially mislead applicants regarding employment terms

This list is not exhaustive.

4. Reporting a Suspicious Job Posting

WDT-powered job boards include a “Report this Job” feature that allows individuals to submit concerns regarding a job posting.

When a report is submitted:

  • The report is forwarded to the Operator responsible for that specific job board instance.
  • The Operator reviews and determines appropriate action in accordance with their internal policies and applicable law.

WDT does not review or adjudicate individual reports unless they involve:

  • Platform-level abuse
  • Technical misuse of the system
  • Violations of WDT’s Terms of Use
  • Escalations submitted directly to WDT

5. Operator Responsibilities

Each Operator is responsible for:

  • Monitoring job postings within their WDT instance
  • Reviewing fraud reports submitted through their job board
  • Investigating and determining appropriate action
  • Removing or disabling postings deemed fraudulent or non-compliant
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (Ontario), where applicable
  • Operators may establish additional internal moderation policies beyond what is outlined here.

6. WDT’s Role

WDT provides:

  • The technical platform enabling job postings
  • The reporting functionality
  • Administrative tools for Operators to manage postings

WDT does not:

  • Guarantee the accuracy or legitimacy of job postings
  • Independently verify every posting
  • Assume responsibility for employer compliance with employment legislation

WDT reserves the right to take action, including disabling access to the platform, where systemic misuse, abuse, or legal violations are identified.

7. Record Retention

Reports submitted through the job reporting feature are retained within the applicable WDT instance in accordance with system data retention practices.

Operators are responsible for maintaining any records required under applicable legislation.

8. Disclaimer

This policy is provided for transparency purposes and does not constitute legal advice. Employers and Operators remain responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
