Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation (AWIC)

The Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation (AWIC) is a community-based, non-profit corporation. It is one of 26 Workforce Planning Boards in the Province of Ontario, funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU).

Our volunteer board members are knowledgeable about the labour force development issues in the District of Algoma. The mandate of AWIC is to act as a catalyst for change in the Algoma District’s labour market by partnering with labour market groups in addressing training and adjustment issues.

Each year AWIC:

  • Conducts research to gather information on labour market trends,
  • Shares findings with the community partners & stakeholders in communication consultations,
  • Creates a community plan of action in consultation with key partners and stakeholders,
  • Facilitates collaborative partnerships to address identified labour market issues.

This Employment Ontario project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and by the Government of Ontario.
