What the Fund Offers

Canada-Ontario Job Grant (the Job Grant) provides an opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce, with help from the government.

The Job Grant will provide direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their employees. It will be available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees, and will provide up to $10,000 in government support per person for training costs.

Individual private and not-for-profit sector employers, First Nation bands councils and organizations acting on behalf of employers, including union training halls, industry associations, training coordinators and other employer consortia that meet the requirements below are eligible to apply for a grant. Eligibility criteria apply to all employers regardless of whether they are training one or multiple individuals.

All people who are residents of Ontario and either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person and meet the eligibility requirements below are eligible to participate in training funded through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant.

Application Process

To access the application, click on the link:

Employers can visit the website, download and complete the application and then save it to their computer. Once the application is completed, the employer returns to the website, browses for the application saved on their computer and follows the steps on the site to attach and submit. Employers with applications to train 25 or under employees will select a service provider (Sault College Employment Solutions). Employers with applications to train over 25 employees will select the regional ministry office to submit the application. Employers are required to fill out one application for each type of training they wish to complete.
